Frequently Asked Questions

Further details on the below can be found in the registration terms and conditions

Can I cancel my registration?

Yes. The following cancellation policy applies:
  • Full refund for cancellations received in writing at least 30 days prior to the event
  • No refund for cancellations received within 30 days of the event or for non attendance on the day.
Should you wish to cancel your registration, contact the Conference Office

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes. Delegate substitutions are permitted at any time, subject to notification to and approval by the LCA (which will not be unreasonably withheld).

If the replacement delegate is not a section member, the non member rate will apply, and any price difference must be paid within 24 hours or prior to the event, whichever is sooner.

Should you wish to transfer your registration, contact the Conference Office

What if I believe my circumstances warrant special consideration?

If you are not satisfied with the refund outcome under the general policy, you may request an individual assessment. This will consider the actual costs incurred by the LCA and may result in:

  • A full refund
  • A partial refund
  • No refund

Any refund will not exceed 100% of the registration fee.

What happens if the Conference is cancelled by the LCA?

If the event is cancelled, registered delegates will be offered either:

  • An alternative event or date, or
  • A full refund of the registration fee

What happens if the event is affected by circumstances outside anyone’s control?

In the case of events beyond reasonable control (such as natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, or other unforeseen disruptions), the LCA will communicate with registered delegates regarding next steps in accordance with its policies.

Will I receive CPD points for attending?

CPD eligibility varies by State and Territory. It is each delegate’s responsibility to confirm CPD requirements with their relevant Law Society prior to attending.

Can the Conference program change?

Yes. While every effort is made to deliver the program as advertised, the Law Council of Australia (LCA) reserves the right to make reasonably necessary changes, including:

  • Changes to dates or location though changes of this kind are likely to be in exceptional circumstances
  • Substitution of speakers
  • Program adjustments
  • Cancellation of the event

If any changes occur, registered delegates will be notified prior to the event.

What happens if the program changes and I can’t attend?

If you do not accept a material change to the event, you may cancel your registration and request a full refund.
